REST DAY!!!

Recipe most requested…  experiment, add ingredients, add more protein… post changes to comments… everyone would welcome input on changes.  The nutrition information was calculated using the recipe calculator on  www.sparkpeople.com (a great, free, website I use to track my daily food consumption)

Juice Plus Complete Peanut Butter Bars

2 Cups Natural Peanut Butter (I use Smucker’s Reduced Fat)
1 ¼ cup honey
½ cup agave nectar
2-¼ cup chocolate complete powder (vanilla works too)
3 cups oats (I use Quaker 1 or 5 minute oats)

Mix all ingredients in large bowl.  May have to use hands to mix.  Spread in 9 x 13 pan.  Refrigerate.  Cut into 64 squares.

GOAT
From Dictionary.com:
Get one’s Goat, Informal – to anger, annoy, or frustrate a person.

CrossFit definition (from CF Montgomery County):
“Your “goat” is the movement, task, or thing that kicks your ass above all others. Not the thing you like the least or the movement that tires you out the fastest, but the thing that strikes dread in your heart when you see it in the WOD because you struggle with every single rep or you can’t do it at all yet.” Not to far off!

The bottom line is this; CrossFit prepares all individuals for the unknown and unknowable. “The needs of our elderly and the needs of the soldier differ in degree – not kind” Coach Greg Glassman. CrossFit workouts also differ in degree – not kind; everyone does the same workout each day, the difference is that we are able to modify each workout to an individual’s needs and capabilities. Whether you are older fighting to stay out of the old folk’s home, a soldier fighting for your country, or a parent reacting to your kids who are in danger, you want to be physically and mentally able to conquer the unknowable tasks that present you each and everyday.

This brings us back to our goats. We all have them, it’s a question of weather or not we are willing to attack them head on. If you are, you will develop your overall athleticism and mental toughness. CrossFit has proven that developing things you suck at will improve your abilities at the things you are already good at. The fewer goats you have in the gym and in life the better you are and the more prepared you will be for the unexpected. Maybe conquering your goats at CFCR will spill over to going after your goats in real life – tell your boss what you really think of him! Just joking, don’t do that.

Double Unders anyone???
For the second day in a row we will attempt Double Unders, not because we are mean trainers (ok, maybe Shannon is mean), but because we would love for everyone to conquer one of their goats. Our Wednesday skills days are a great chance to tackle our goats and prepare us to save the world.

Post your goat(s) to comments and we will be sure to help you conquer them.
I’ll even start; heavy snatch, and high rep handstand push ups and muscle ups make my stomach turn. Maybe we can do a workout with those three movements next week.
Coach Dan

PS – From Fran – Comment darn it! Dan stays up all night thinking of what to write!!! It will tickle his heart!
